Don't miss the special screening of Sharon Shostak's award winning film, THE DEEP POOL, on 30 April at the Drill Hall in Mullumbimby.
Session times are 6pm and 8pm for an entry fee of $10/8. Sharon will also be premiering her latest film ON THE FALLING TIDE, plus three other past short films. A limited edition DVD will be available on the night with a collection of eight of her short films, spanning 1984 to 2004.
Media teaching opportunity: Southern Cross University call for Casual Academic Staff

The School of Arts is seeking expressions of interest from those qualified to engage in the lecturing, tutoring and marking of units in the Bachelor of Arts in both its Humanities and Cultural Studies and Media Studies programs. The School is creating a casual register from which suitable people can be drawn as needs arise. The school offers units in the following majors internally at the Lismore campus and externally: Media Theory and Analysis; Media Production; Cultural Studies; Writing; History. The FFC is holding industry consultations over their draft guidelines led by FFC chief executive Brian Rosen, will begin on Friday 23 April 2004, with a roundtable meeting with the Screen Producers Association of Australia (SPAA), the Independent Producers Initiative (IPI), the Australian Directors Association (ASDA), the SPAA/ASDA Documentary Council (SADC), and the Australian Writers Guild (AWG).
The consultation with the guilds will be followed by open meetings for producers/industry practitioners. The Brisbane meeting is this Friday 30 April 2004 at 111 George Street Conference Rooms - Conference Room 3, Charlotte Street entrance (where the PFTC office is located) from 10am - 1pm.
Links to Learning films screening
There will be a screening of six new short films created by 10 girls who have participated in The All-Girl Film-making Course as part of the Links to Learning program run by Byron Youth Service with tutor Barbie English.
The screening takes place at Byron Cinemas on Wednesday 28 April at 6.45pm.
Cost: $5 at the door and proceeds go to Byron Youth Services.
PLAY NOW ACT NOW - YOUR SHOUT!
Information sessions for the Play Now Act Now Your Shout! film and video festival will be held at Byron Bay Community Centre on Wednesday 6 May. The sessions are open to all interested parties, both filmmakers and those interested in the issues of Your Shout. These Information Sessions will provide an excellent opportunity to explain the parameters of the festival and discuss the subject matter with the target audience and potential entrants. A 15-minute documentary will be screened, followed by a Q&A session and entry forms will be distributed.
