Friday 25
July
Director/DP Geoff Burton and Matthew Flanagan host the next Sundowner
from 5.30 - 7.30pm. Using the Dogme film movement as a starting
point for discussion, Geoff and Matthew noted that the Finnish
filmmakers confronting similar conditions to Australia, founded a
movement as a way of getting their work funded and screened. By
creating a co-operative and distinctive brand for their work, they
now enjoy world-wide interest and success with the many films that
they have made. Geoff and Matthew want to open a discussion
which asks how we can come together as a community of interesting,
innovative and creative film and programme makers to turn to power
and strength the combination of talents and skills that we all
possess to position ourselves to create, control and exploit our
filmmaking ambitions within a distinctive regional
environment. This is a byo event at the Screenworks
office.
Friday
August 1
Come and meet Andrew Knight, co-author of SeaChange, the recently
screened After The Deluge and the soon to be
screened Crash Burn. Andrew will discuss his career path and
speak with practitioners informally .
