| SUNDOWNER - A NETWORKING
OPPORTUNITY | |
|
|
Following the success of the Screenworks
drinks evening, we are continuing to support opportunities for
networking by introducing informal Sundowner evenings every second
Friday, starting in July. Held in the office from 5.30pm we
will have an industry practitioner generally discussing their career
path and encourage everyone to call in after work or on your way to
the Rails, to network and meet with other local practitioners. These
evenings are BYO and will be co-ordinated by Leah Wright. Note the
following evenings in your diary:
18 July 5.30-6.30pm. Meet informally with
Julia Overton, Producer, and Jackie McKimmie, Director, who are now
both Project Officers with the Australian Film
Commission.
25 July 5.30-7.00pm. Matthew
Flanagan and DOP/Director Geoff Burton present a discussion about the
Finnish Dogme movement - asking the question ‘Would it be possible in
the Northern Rivers Region to create, control and exploit our film
making ambitions within a distinctive regional environment?’ Looking
at the Dogme Manifesto model, they note that by creating this
co-operative and distinctive organisation, the Dogme filmmakers have
been able to brand their work and enjoy world-wide interest and
success. Flanagan and Burton believe it would be possible, within
this region, to similarly 'brand' our work and achieve the same
distribution success as the Dogme signatories have done. Join the
discussion and read

1 August 5.30-6.30pm. Meet Andrew
Knight, one of Australia’s most successful writers. Writer of
recently screened AFTER THE DELUGE, WORST BEST FRIENDS, SEACHANGE
(co-writer), KANGAROO PALACE (co-writer), SPOTSWOOD and FAST
FORWARD.
