Dear
Screenworks Member
|
Welcome to Screenworks September
E-newsletter! |
|
September looks set to be a
very busy month here at SCREENWORKS.
"Life's A Pitch" is picking up speed with THE ART OF THE PITCH: PART
TWO which
will focus on Visuals for your pitch. Do you need them? What form
should they take? And is it sometimes better not to use them at
all?
The NEW MEDIA INCUBATOR is
accepting applications until Sept 11, so individuals
and teams should be checking our
website for application information and getting their proposals
together right now.
And in
case you haven't heard, Kamahl Druesne, winner of Life's A Pitch 2007,
has signed with SBS. He'll be sharing his
journey with everyone who attends the Launch of Life's
A Pitch 2008 on 22 September at Screenworks in Deacon Street. So
be there! We'll be announcing our Judging Panel for the Finals, and it
will take your breath away.
Plus there are Films,
Festivals, Free Passes and more in store.
The weather's heating up, and so is the action.
Let's see what's going on.
Warm regards
Jill & Denise |

A Week of Amazing Australian & International Films at the A&I
Hall 24-30 September

To
inspire more members to update their profiles, and to encourage
non-members to join us, we're giving away two free passes to the BANGALOW
FILM FIESTA 08, running from 24th to 30th of September at the
A&I Hall in Station Street.
When
we moved to our new website, all our members came with us, but your

means that if a producer looks at our directory for crew (see

is update your profile between now and 22 September, and send us an
email
to say you've done it. We'll put you in the draw for a Free Pass
to the full Film Fiesta programme, which includes the Opening Night
Party.
Non-members
who join before 22 September will go into a second draw for a Free
Fiesta Pass. Just download the
form from the website or Click Here
and send it in with your cheque or an internet payment, and you're in.
The winners
will be drawn at the LIFE'S A PITCH launch the evening of 22
September at Screenworks in Deacon Street.

MEMBER NEWS |
| WINNER OF LIFES A PITCH 2007 SIGNS WITH SBS |
Screenworks
member Kamahl Druesne has signed a contract with SBS for a
four-part documentary series - working title: "A Camel
Odyssey".
As
"Collective Moments of Madness" Kamahl's series took out the
honours in 2007's Life's a Pitch with his
tale of a hair-raising trek across India with an international group of
mates and their Bactrian Camels.
With
the support of the Life's a Pitch Travel Prize, Kamhal took his pitch
to the Australian International Documentary Conference's Documart in
Perth last February, where he won the People's Choice award and
attracted strong broadcaster interest.
"The project really took off and
changed up a gear when I won Life's a Pitch at Byron Bay," Kamahl says.
Minister for Regional Development Mr. Tony Kelly said -
“The
NSW Government is a proud supporter of the Life’s A Pitch
competition, along with its funding for Northern Rivers Screenworks.
It’s great to see the competition has helped Kamahl Druesne gain
wider support for his project.
“Northern
Rivers Screenworks is gearing up for this year’s Life’s a
Pitch competition, which will be open for entries from September 22 to
October 6.”
Last
year's competition brought Kamahl's project to the attention of Susan
McKinnon, who signed on as Executive
Producer, joining Producer Richard
Mordaunt on the project. Composer Murray Burns has
come on board to score the series.
Kamahl will share his experiences at the September Launch Night for Life's A Pitch 2008.
